Today’s recipe once again comes from the New England Cook Book, by Marion Harland, Miss M. Parloa, Mrs. D.A. Lincoln, ad Thomas J. Murrey, 1905.
This Chocolate recipe includes mention of Bensdorp’s Chocolate, which, come to find out, has been around since 1840 – and is still around today!

We’re doing chocolate today instead of coffee because there’s a winter storm front pushing in off of the Pacific and it’s going to be a hot chocolate kind of week. So grab those slippers, get your afghan ready, and snuggle down with a cup of cocoa and your favorite book.
This particular recipe is almost exactly what I follow for homemade cocoa. The only addition is a dash of salt.
Be warm and full of good cheer, my friends!
The eggs are a new edition to me. Sounds like breakfast on the go!
