December Menu ~1920s

Welcome December!

Time to dust off those traditional family recipes, dig out the nutmeg jar, and tie on that apron with firm conviction. December is here…

Here are a few inspirational dinner menus from my undated recipe book:  The Calendar of Dinners, 365 Answers to the Daily Question: What shall we have for dinner?

These excerpts underscore your fall/winter harvest. Speaking of which – drove past the Sunday farmers market and, alas, only 2 stalwart vendors hunkered down behind tables stacked with root vegetables. Their tarpaulins offering little protection from the sideways rain. Ah, winter…

Silly question: Are turnips and rutabagas the same vegetable?

I shan’t go searching for the answer, but rather prefer to wait for loyal readers to chime in and clarify the issue.

Here’s to December! Cheers!
