1893 World’s Fair Souvenir Cook Book.
Here’s another full page out of the 1893 World’s Fair Souvenir Cook Book. Throughout the book we have pictures of the ladies who helped to organize the fair and put the book together.
With each picture, you’re left wondering about how the women got involved in the project, what other events were going on in their lives, and what brought them together.
On the opposite page, we have some simple, no-frills gluten free cornmeal recipes. Definitely would need some butter and jam or honey to get these down!

corn meal remindes me of a dish my grandfather made for me when I would visit, mush……..if is amazing how food leaves us with such beautiful memories.

I wonder if some people felt better after digesting these GF recipes–of course, they most likely had gluten foods on the table, too.

Yeah, they wouldn’t have known. Cornmeal was for the poor, really. I see it all of the time in books on economy.

A big heck-to-the-yeah to the butter in the recipes!
