I have to agree with this old recipe! Four minutes is just right.

It’s what I do! Then pour out the water immediately and douse in cold water. Always come out delicious!

The cookbook we were given in my high school home ec class had these instructions to hard boil eggs.
Place eggs in cold water. Bring to boil. Cover and remove from heat. Let stand 20 minutes.
Yup. 20 minutes.
I thought that grey around the yolk was normal for many years!
