Christmas Egg Nog Recipe

So the huge issue that we home-cooks typically have with homemade egg nog is that it uses raw eggs. I’m curious to know if all of the alcohol included in this recipe basically nullifies any possibility of food poisoning…Maybe that’s not how it works, but I’d like to think so because this looks delicious!

Ingredients

  • 8 egg yolks – set aside whites
  • 6 Tbsp. powder sugar
  • 1/2 grated nutmeg
  • 1/3 pint Jamaica rum
  • 1 wine glass of brandy or Madeira wine
  • 8 egg whites beaten stiff
  • 3 pints milk
