Merriment Poem by Gordon King.
With liver and cheese and wine galore,
Is it so strange that we fall on the floor;
And when with coffee and cognac we end the meal,
Is it strange to remark “how funny we feel.”

Fascinating picture and quote. Are they both from the same book?

No – a little doctoring on my end! The quote was from the inside of an 1800 Creole cookbook. The pic is dutch. 🙂
